There are 'seas of opportunity'
clear across Canada!
In December 2005, the Disabled Sailing Association of BC (DSA BC) conducted the first national survey of DSA/Able Sail operators across Canada. Seventeen active DSA/Able Sail programs were identified across Canada and interviewed. Program information and operating statistics were consolidated for the first time, to produce a “big picture” view of the accessible sailing activity during the 2005 season.

Our national survey inspired questions, dialog and ACTION across Canada. Program operators looked at their own operating stats in the context of the “network” and are implementing plans to improve their 2006 programs and operations. The CYA and OSA are reviewing where DSA/ASPs fit within their mandates and are more pro-active than ever in supporting accessible sailing.
A positive momentum has been established and our national AbleSailNetwork is off to a great start. The coming year promises to be exciting for program oerators across Canada, as we work together to move to a new level. We invite you JOIN US and continue to develop accessible sailing in Canada!
